Dr. Georgios Polychronopoulos, an affiliated researcher at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE), has reached a significant milestone in his academic career by receiving the prestigious Best Reviewer Award for 2024 from the Academy of Management (AOM). This recognition highlights his dedication to maintaining the integrity and quality of academic research, particularly within the field of Entrepreneurship.

For Dr. Polychronopoulos, this award not only acknowledges his personal efforts but also celebrates the collaborative nature of academia. “I am deeply honored by this recognition. It reinforces my commitment to contributing constructively to the development of quality research,” he says. 

Though he does not expect the award to drastically change his professional life, it strengthens his resolve to continue serving the academic community in this vital role. Being a reviewer is a way to give back to the community that has supported my growth as a scholar,” he adds. 

Academic Journey and Future Goals 

Dr. Polychronopoulos’ academic journey began at VŠE, where he recently completed his Ph.D. in Management and Managerial Economics, with a focus on Social Entrepreneurship. His affiliation with the university as a researcher allows him to continue advancing the projects he initiated during his doctoral studies. He credits the mentorship of Professor Martin Lukeš and his colleagues at the Department of Entrepreneurship for shaping his research and fostering a collaborative academic environment. 

Looking ahead, Dr. Polychronopoulos plans to continue his research in social entrepreneurship, with a particular emphasis on the societal impacts of entrepreneurial activities. He is also eager to take on a more active mentorship role, guiding Ph.D. students as they navigate their academic and professional paths.

Dr. Polychronopoulos is an affiliated researcher at Prague University of Economics and Business and a Research Fellow in Sustainable Development at IMD. His research primarily focuses on how entrepreneurial activities can drive societal change. He has led the authorship of a publication in the Journal of Management Studies, which develops an outcome-based typology of social enterprises, along with colleagues from the Department of Entrepreneurship at VŠE. His work is dedicated to advancing understanding of how business initiatives can contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future.
