From research: Bureaucratization of academia

Is bureaucratization of academia new phenomenon? Reports of bureaucratization at universities come from numerous countries. A paper published by dr. J KOZÁK and dr. J. KLEMENT in Higher Education journal examined perceived administrative burden among 1 117 academics from the Czech Republic. Results show that the main source of excessive administrative burden are grants which are lately more and more frequent source of financing in academia.

Authors further argue that digitization could speed up some processes, however, it could drive further data collection, which would further increase bureaucratization of academia. The importance of good academia governance shows an invitation from prof. Peter Woelert from University of Melbourne to present results of this research at College for Social Sciences and Humanities (from three universities alliance Universitätsallianz Ruhr) in Esen.
