Who we are
The Faculty of Business Administration of the Prague University of Economics and Business is an EQUIS and AACSB accredited and Financial Times ranked business school located in the center of the historical city of Prague, the Czech Republic. We are ranked as one of the best business schools in the Central and Eastern European region. Research of the faculty members has been published in major journals in psychology, management, economics, and organizational studies. The postdoctoral researchers will join the interdisciplinary Behavioral and Experimental Economics Research Group, which conducts research in business ethics, moral psychology, and experimental economics. Prague has a high quality of living, low costs, low crime rate, low inequality, a central location in Europe, an excellent public transportation system, and a GDP per capita comparable to that of Brussels.
The Job’s Mission
The Postdoctoral Researcher will primarily carry out experimental research as a member of a larger research team on one of the theme projects: “Behavioral Aspects of Ageing and Medical Decision-Making” “Investigation of Inequality, Regulation, and Open Society”, or “Strategic Moralization in Groups and Organizations”.
The research agenda is mostly set but room for one’s own research activities is available. The postdoc will actively collaborate on the selected project, which includes finalization of experimental design, data collection, data analysis, and manuscript preparation, with the aim of publishing in top-tier journals. Active participation in workshops and research seminars is expected and teaching is not required. The projects come with a shared conference budget.
Obligatory requirements
- Ph.D. degree in a relevant field (or finishing the degree in 2025)
- A solid track record of publications in management and/or psychology and/or economics journals appropriate to the length of professional experience
- Fresh graduates should show the potential of publishing in top-tier journals in their job-market paper
- Advanced knowledge of quantitative and experimental research methods
- A strong background in judgment and decision-making, management, behavioral and experimental economics, and/or social or organizational psychology
- An excellent command of written and spoken English language; knowledge of Czech language is an advantage but not required
- Presence in Prague required (not a remote position)
Ideal profile
- Keen and demonstrable interest in research on one of the studied topics; i.e., ageing, inequality, moral judgment, legal decision-making, dishonesty, and/or environmental attitudes.
- Knowledge of and experience with experimental methods (online, laboratory, or field experiments), e.g., programs oTree, z-Tree, or Python
- Experience with open science practices
The offer
Up to a full-time position for 18 months with a possible extension of 18-27 months given satisfactory performance. Starting date by agreement, but ideally as soon as possible (April 2025), with the latest end date on December 31st, 2028. Salary range 50-60,000 CZK pre-tax (i.e., up to about 2,390 EUR or 2,460 USD) per month, with possible additional performance bonuses and some conference budget. Depending on the size of the contract, employee benefits will be included: 6 weeks of paid vacation per year, contribution to supplementary pension insurance or long-term investment product, meal allowance, discount for language courses and sport activities, university kindergarten or contribution to childcare in other facilities, events for employees, free parking.
